Manual Therapy
Is the use of hands on techniques used to restore mobility and improve the biomechanics around surrounding joints and tissues. These techniques may include spinal and peripheral joint mobilizations or manipulation, muscle energy techniques, myofacial release, soft tissue mobilization, and neural mobilization. Manual therapy techniques are used for sport physio treatments and for a variety of orthopaedic injuries.

Vestibular Rehabilitation
Vestibular Rehabilitation: Vestibular therapy can be used to help a variety of symptoms and conditions. Common conditions and symptoms that can benefit from Vestibular Therapy are: Generalized dizziness and/ or blurry vision with head movement, Vertigo/ Spinning, Neck tightness, stiffness, and/ or pain, Vestibular Disorders, Post-Concussion Syndrome, Balance issues, Whiplash Injuries, Neck Related Dizziness, Sensory Integration Dysfunctions, Minere’s complications, Stroke
Pre-Natal and Post Partum Rehabilitation
The body goes through many changes when preparing for a baby. During the Pre-Natal stage, ligaments start to stretch more and postural alignment changes to accommodate the growing fetus. This can lead to a number of varying symptoms such as low back pain, SI joint pain, round ligament pain, sciatica, joint instability and pelvic floor muscle dysfunction during the pre-natal or post partum period. Physiotherapy treatment can help with alignment and stability of the core to reduce and minimize pain, improve function and prevent further injury. Preventative exercises are beneficial to strengthen the body for the preparation of labour. During the post partum period physiotherapy will help condition the body for repetitive lifting and carrying postures as well as breast feeding postures.

Post Operative Mastectomy Care
Restriction of shoulder range of motion can be caused by excessive scar tissue formation at the incision. When the body creates too much scar it can stick and bind to other soft tissue such as muscle, skin, and tendons. This stops how much the shoulder can move and restricts shoulder mobility. Lymph (scar tissue) can form within lymph vessel, and cording can occur due to excessive scar tissue in the lymph vessel. This will also contribute to restriction in shoulder mobility Physiotherapy treatment includes scar mobilization, manual therapy stretching, range of motion exercise, and self stretches for increasing flexibility, restoring mobility, and preventing further restrictions.

Exercise Therapy
Retraining the muscles to support joints by optimizing their function and performance is the key to successful rehabilitation. Exercise therapy is the use of exercises to rehabilitate injures. This includes retraining strength, flexibility, coordination, proprioception and correcting postural alignment by using proper movement strategies. This will ensure your body is in the best possible shape to return to pre-injury activities and sports. Prevention is also a focus for our physiotherapists. Before you start a new activity having a functional assessment screen or seeking advice can help identify potential problems before they happen.
Sports Therapy
Sport Physio is treatment for sports injuries which includes a detailed biomechanical assessment to determine the nature of the injury. This may include injuries arising from a traumatic acute onset, repetitive overuse or post surgical rehabilitation. Correcting biomechanical faults through manual therapy, specifically exercise prescription along with movement pattern retraining will help balance the body in order to overcome an injury. Athletic Taping: Taping is used to help provide support, improve alignment and providing stability to the surrounding tissues. Taping includes using a wide variety of various types of tape to facilitate recovery. Athletic taping has a variety of applications such as being used to stabilize an ankle for a soccer game, supporting the upper back for postural correction, or supporting a knee ligament strain.

Therapeutic Modalities
These are therapeutic devices used to help decrease pain and inflammation in surrounding tissue to help enhance healing. These may include: TENS, Muscle Stimulator or Ultrasound therapy.

Acupuncture
is used as a physiotherapy modality as a way to improve natural healing, and decrease pain. It involves the insertion of fine needles into specific points in the body. These points are determined by a thorough physiotherapy assessment to determine the cause of the pain. This approach is called Anatomical acupuncture which is practiced by western trained acupuncture therapists. Our therapists are trained through the Acupuncture Foundation of Canada Institute which is a body who trains health care professionals to apply acupuncture within their scope of practice. It is believed to work by releasing endorphins; these are hormones which are naturally produced in the body. They help decrease pain by blocking painful pathways from the body to the brain which allows the body to restore biochemical balance and stimulate the bodies’ natural healing ability.
Core Stability Training
Involves training of muscles located between the diaphragm and the pelvic floor. Retraining the endurance and activation of these muscles are important for supporting the joints in the lumbar spine and pelvis. Good support in the joints is essential for improving the function and movement in the lumbar spine and for treating lower back pain. The deep muscles in the core include transversus abdominis, multifidus, the pelvic floor and diaphragm. Core stability training is an essential part of your orthopaedic and sport physio treatments. Core stability training is a key component of exercise therapy.
Intramuscular Stimulation (IMS)
While there are similarities to acupuncture, intramuscular stimulation (IMS) involves inserting fine needles into shortened muscles to help release muscle tension. The goal is to release shortened muscles to take the pressure away from compressed nerve structures. This is one tool we can use to help improve bio-mechanics and restore optimal function.

Ergonomics
Ergonomics assessment is the process of evaluating workspaces, tools, equipment, and the overall work environment to ensure they are designed in a way that promotes efficiency, comfort, and safety for individuals. This assessment looks at the interaction between the worker, their tasks, and their environment to identify any potential risks or discomforts that could lead to physical strain or injury. The importance of maintaining good ergonomics cannot be overstated, especially in environments where workers perform repetitive tasks or spend long hours in a single position. Proper ergonomics helps to prevent musculoskeletal disorders (MSDs), such as back pain, carpal tunnel syndrome, and repetitive strain injuries (RSIs). These injuries are often caused by poor posture, awkward movements, or prolonged static positions. By designing workstations and workflows that align with the body's natural movements, individuals can work more comfortably and efficiently. Some common strategies include adjusting the height and angle of chairs, desks, and screens, encouraging regular breaks, and ensuring that tools and equipment are within easy reach. Maintaining good ergonomics not only improves worker well-being but also enhances productivity and reduces the likelihood of costly medical treatments and time off work. In summary, ergonomic assessments are crucial for identifying and addressing potential hazards in the workplace, promoting better physical health, and creating a more comfortable and sustainable work environment for everyone.
